HCHF presidency, through the Vatican representative, Cardinal Miguel Ayuso, and Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif representative, Prof. Muhammad Al-Mahrasawi, maintains that the Higher Committee for Human Fraternity (HCHF) has no relation to the Human Fraternity Foundation (HFF – Cairo, Egypt), which collects donations for projects and goals that have nothing to do with the official human fraternity initiatives approved by HCHF.

The HCHF co-chairs also confirm that the HCHF is the only independent body mandated by the primary sponsors of the Human Fraternity Document cosigned by HH Pope Francis, Pope of the Catholic Church, and HE Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif. They assert that such foundation (HFF-Cairo), have no official relation whatsoever to Al-Azhar or to the Vatican. Besides, they maintain, the HCHF operates in an institutional manner and takes its decisions regarding any new initiative through consultation and consensus among its members in its announced periodic meetings. They also add that the HCHF tasks do not include collecting donations. Hence, the HCHF is not responsible for any individual projects adopted or launched by any one of its members individually without the permission of the committee.
