HCHF delegation meets with Rabbi Arthur Schneier and students at New York synagogue

NEW YORK – Prominent American Jewish leader Rabbi Arthur Schneier received a delegation from the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity (HCHF) at his New York City synagogue on December 7th, and discussed collaboration to advance the values of human fraternity.

The delegation toured Park East Synagogue and the Rabbi Arthur Schneier Park East Day School, speaking with Rabbi Schneier about the significance and promotion of interfaith dialogue and mutual understanding. During the meeting, Rabbi Schenier and the HCHF delegation discussed potential collaboration on the Park East Synagogue’s “Respect for the Other” initiative and the HCHF’s International Day of Human Fraternity initiative, held annually on February 4 and recognized as an international day by the United Nations.

Rabbi Schneier emphasized his commitment to the Golden Rule – “to love your neighbor as yourself” –and said that the message he teaches to the children attending his synagogue is a message of human fraternity. He praised the work of the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity and its founding statement: the historic Document on Human Fraternity, co-signed by His Holiness Pope Francis and His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Professor Ahmed Al-Tayeb in 2019 in Abu Dhabi, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and patron of human fraternity.

The HCHF delegation presented Rabbi Schneier and his students with a copy of the Document on Human Fraternity. HCHF meeting chair H.Emin. Cardinal Miguel Ayuso, HCHF Secretary-General Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, and HCHF member Irina Bokovaaddressed the students and faculty at the school.
